hull surveys
The Hull of a vessel is fundamental to its overall structural integrity. Our Hull Inspections are taken whilst vessels are out of the water. Conducting a hull inspection we check for any signs of corrosion and any external damage to underwater appendages.
As part of the inspection for corrosion/pitting, we test the hull in over 120 random sample areas using the latest Cygnus 4 multiple echo ultrasonic gauge to measure plating thickness.
When a Narrow Boat, Barge or House Boat are nearly new the purchaser generally does not have concerns regarding the overall condition of the vessel. In these cases we are regularly requested to carry out just a hull inspection. This includes looking at all the underwater appendages - Rudders, Shaft Brackets, Bow Thruster & Anodes etc.
In many cases an out of the water hull inspection is sufficient. For older vessels insurer’s may well require a Pre Purchase Survey report.
Please see the Scope of the principal areas which are included in our Hull Survey.
